Community Guidelines
Effective Date: August 2026
These guidelines apply to all users, students, contributors, moderators, administrators and visitors. By using ArewaUniHub you agree to follow them, along with our Privacy Policy and applicable Nigerian laws and regulations.
1Our Community
ArewaUniHub is a student-focused platform designed to help students discover educational resources, share knowledge, collaborate, and build meaningful academic communities.
We want ArewaUniHub to be a safe, respectful, educational, and legally compliant environment.
2Respect Other Members
Users must treat other members with respect. You must not:
- Harass, threaten, bully, intimidate, or abuse another person.
- Engage in hate speech or discriminatory attacks.
- Impersonate another person, institution, organization, or administrator.
- Publish private or embarrassing information about another person without permission.
- Deliberately disrupt discussions or communities.
- Encourage violence, illegal activity, or harm against others.
Academic disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks are not.
3Academic Integrity
ArewaUniHub exists to support learning and academic development, not academic dishonesty. Users must not use the platform to:
- Facilitate examination malpractice.
- Request or distribute leaked examination papers.
- Sell or distribute confidential examination materials.
- Submit another person's work as their own.
- Advertise or facilitate cheating services.
- Manipulate academic records or credentials.
- Misrepresent qualifications, grades, or academic achievements.
Sharing study materials, explanations, past questions that are legally available, personal notes, and educational resources is encouraged where the contributor has the right to share them.
4Copyright and Intellectual Property
Users are responsible for ensuring that they have the legal right to upload, share, reproduce, or distribute any material they submit to ArewaUniHub.
Do not upload
- Copyrighted textbooks or books without permission.
- Paid courses or premium educational content without authorization.
- Pirated software, movies, music, or other copyrighted material.
- Scanned copies of copyrighted publications where you do not have permission.
- Materials obtained through unauthorized distribution.
- Another person's original work while claiming ownership of it.
You may share
- Content you created yourself.
- Materials that you have permission or a valid licence to distribute.
- Public-domain materials.
- Materials released under licences that permit redistribution, subject to the licence terms.
- Links to legitimate sources where appropriate.
Important: Giving credit to the original author does not automatically give you permission to reproduce copyrighted material.
Where possible, users should provide the original author, institution, source, licence, or attribution information for materials they upload.
5Copyright Complaints and Takedowns
If you believe that content on ArewaUniHub infringes your copyright, you may report it to the platform. A complaint should provide enough information for us to identify:
- 1.The copyrighted work allegedly being infringed.
- 2.The specific content or URL on ArewaUniHub being complained about.
- 3.Your name and contact information.
- 4.Evidence or information showing that you own the copyright or are authorized to act for the copyright owner.
- 5.A statement that the information provided is accurate and that you are authorized to make the complaint.
ArewaUniHub may remove, restrict, or disable access to content while investigating a legitimate complaint. Repeated copyright infringement may result in suspension or termination of an account.
6Personal Data and Privacy
ArewaUniHub respects users' privacy and handles personal information in accordance with applicable Nigerian data-protection requirements, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and applicable regulations and guidance.
Do not publicly post:
- Phone numbers belonging to another person without permission.
- Home addresses.
- Passwords or login credentials.
- Identification numbers or sensitive identity documents.
- Financial or payment information.
- Private conversations or correspondence without authorization.
- Private academic records belonging to another person.
- Any other personal information that could reasonably expose another person to harm, fraud, harassment, or identity theft.
When providing information to ArewaUniHub
Users should provide accurate information where required and should not create accounts using another person's identity.
We collect and process personal information only for legitimate purposes communicated through our Privacy Policy. You may have rights relating to your personal data under applicable data-protection law, including rights concerning access, correction, objection, restriction, and deletion, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
7Children's and Young Users' Safety
Users must not exploit, manipulate, sexually exploit, groom, threaten, or otherwise abuse minors through ArewaUniHub. Do not request or share sexual images or inappropriate content involving minors.
Any suspected child exploitation or serious abuse should be reported immediately to ArewaUniHub and, where appropriate, relevant authorities.
8Prohibited Content
The following content is prohibited:
- Pornographic or sexually exploitative material.
- Content involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
- Violent threats or credible calls for violence.
- Fraudulent schemes and scams.
- Malware, malicious files, or harmful software.
- Stolen credentials or confidential account information.
- Doxxing or malicious disclosure of personal information.
- Content intended to facilitate criminal activity.
- Spam and deceptive advertising.
- Content designed to manipulate, defraud, or seriously harm other users.
9User-Generated Content
Users remain responsible for the content they upload, post, submit, or otherwise make available. By submitting content, you represent that:
- You have the necessary rights or permissions to submit it.
- Your submission does not knowingly violate another person's intellectual-property rights.
- Your submission does not unlawfully disclose another person's private information.
- Your submission does not violate these Community Guidelines or applicable law.
Users should not upload material simply because they found it online. Online availability does not automatically mean that content is free to copy or redistribute.
10Content Moderation
ArewaUniHub may review content and take appropriate action when it violates these guidelines, our policies, or applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, actions may include:
- Removing content.
- Restricting access to content.
- Issuing a warning.
- Temporarily restricting an account.
- Suspending an account.
- Permanently terminating an account.
- Removing a user from a community.
- Preserving relevant information where legally required.
- Reporting serious or unlawful conduct to appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law.
We may take immediate action where necessary to protect users, the platform, or third parties.
11Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these guidelines, please report it through the reporting option available on ArewaUniHub. Provide enough information for our moderation team to understand the issue.
Do not abuse the reporting system by knowingly submitting false or malicious reports.
12Community Moderators
Community moderators may help enforce these guidelines within their respective communities. Moderators must:
- Apply rules fairly and consistently.
- Avoid discrimination or personal retaliation.
- Protect users' privacy.
- Escalate serious violations to ArewaUniHub administrators.
- Avoid using moderation powers for personal gain.
Moderators must not disclose confidential user information unless authorized or legally required.
13Responsible Sharing of Educational Resources
Before uploading a resource, ask:
“Do I have the right to share this?”
If the answer is unclear, do not upload the material. Instead, consider sharing a link to the legitimate source.
For resources created by universities, lecturers, authors, publishers, or other organizations, users should respect the applicable copyright and distribution terms.
ArewaUniHub may introduce additional rules for specific resource categories as the platform develops.
14No Doxxing or Unauthorized Data Collection
Users must not use ArewaUniHub to collect, compile, publish, or distribute personal information about other users for harassment, surveillance, fraud, intimidation, or other unauthorized purposes.
Automated scraping or data collection that violates ArewaUniHub's terms, security controls, or applicable law is prohibited.
15Security
Users are responsible for protecting their accounts. Never share your password or authentication credentials with another person. If you believe your account has been compromised, notify ArewaUniHub as soon as possible.
Users must not attempt to:
- Access another user's account.
- Bypass authentication or security controls.
- Exploit vulnerabilities.
- Introduce malware.
- Interfere with the platform's operation.
- Gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
16Appeals
If you believe that your content or account was restricted incorrectly, you may contact ArewaUniHub through the support or appeals channel. Appeals should explain why the action should be reconsidered and provide any relevant information.
ArewaUniHub may review the decision and determine whether to restore the content or account.
17Changes to These Guidelines
ArewaUniHub may update these Community Guidelines as the platform develops, laws change, or new risks emerge. Where appropriate, significant changes will be communicated through the platform or other appropriate channels.
Continued use of ArewaUniHub after updated guidelines become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines, subject to applicable law.
Our Core Principle
ArewaUniHub is a place to learn, collaborate, and grow.
Before posting, uploading, or sharing something, ask:
- Is it respectful?
- Is it useful?
- Do I have the right to share it?
- Does it protect other people's privacy?
If the answer is no or uncertain, don't post it.
